The Kid Super Auto 1/1 from the Griffey Set sold Saturday night on Goldin Auctions for $73,200.
That makes it:
• The highest Ken Griffey Jr. pack-pulled single auto non-relic sale in history.
• A Top 20 Griffey sale of all time.
• The highest-selling BoBA card ever.
We pay attention to the secondary market because it helps us understand what you all value most.
And unlike a traditional sports card, this Super has utility beyond the display case.
It could literally pay for itself by winning a key matchup in the $500,000 prize pool at The National.
We love sports cards too but they can’t do that.
Even if a meteor hits our office tomorrow, this will always be Ken Griffey Jr.’s Cover Hero debut 1/1 in Bo Jackson’s trading card game.
If that’s not a collectible worth betting on, we don’t know what is.
It’s pretty clear this buyer agrees.
Congrats to the new owner.
